- 1NT PASS 2C?
-
- HANDS WITH HCPC 12 OR MORE
- The bid of 2C is an artificial Stayman bid. It asks
- partner to bid a four card major or best suit.
- (1) The person making the Stayman bid may be trying
- to find game in a major with 4/4 fit.
- (2) The player may have a long minor suit that
- responder will bid next turn. This shows an OPC of
- 15 or more and indicates hope of making game in the
- minor suit or notrump. This is forcing to game.
-
- HANDS WITH LESS THAN 12 POINTS:
- The 2C bid is also made if the hand has no 5 card suit
- and few if any points. In this case partner will pass
- any bid made by opener. Finally the 2C bid may
- describe an unbalanced hand with less than HCPC 11
- and no 5 card suit. The responder is looking for a
- fit in opener's suit and will pass opener's bid.
- When responder passes prior to the 1NT bid, opener
- must pass any two bid in a suit made by responder
- including the 2C bid.
